About Us

In close cooperation with Japanese artists and manufacturers, studio chidoli offers high-quality and timeless ceramics for everyday use. Here you will find traditional crafts 'made in Japan' - suitable for a modern and cozy home.

“Tableware is like a garment for dishes”

This quote from the artist Rosanjin Kitaoji sums up Japan's ceramic culture in a nutshell. It is as diverse and harmonious as Japanese cuisine itself. The infinite potential of combining colors, textures and shapes fills and enriches our everyday lives.

With studio chidoli, we, two friends from Munich, are realizing a life-long dream. We have made it our mission to make Japanese ceramics more accessible in Europe.

Shiori comes from a German-Japanese family and lived in Kyoto for over 10 years. Lisa-Marie studied art history and discovered her love for Japan at an early age. Both are regularly drawn to Japan, both for business and pleasure.

Starting in 2025, you can discover selected pieces at fair prices in our pop-up stores and via our online store. We also want to offer customized solutions for B2B customers such as the gastronomy soon.

Let our collection inspire you - as a gift for yourself or your loved ones.

With unique ceramics, every day becomes a celebration.

Fun fact: 'studio chidoli' owes its name to 千鳥 ( chidori ), a little bird or more specifically a plover. Together with their feathered friends, they travel across the great ocean in rain and storms. In Japan, it is not only considered a lucky charm or a symbol of courage and longevity, but is also known as a traditional motif on ceramics or kimonos.
